In 2007, it was re-released in America for the Xbox 360's Xbox Live Arcade. It was re-released the following year for the Sega Saturn with additional features exclusively in Japan. The game was developed by Konami Computer Entertainment Tokyo and published by Konami for the Sony PlayStation in 1997. It is a direct sequel to Castlevania: Rondo of Blood, which was originally released for the Nippon Electric Company PC Engine (TurboGrafx 16) in 1993, in Japan.
